Professional Development Award

HLA provides one professional award annually, for up to $1,000.00. Library staff at any level may apply, including paraprofessionals. The award may be used to participate in a conference or continuing education activity that takes place within the year following the application deadline.

HLA provides one $1,000.00 student award annually, with one year free membership to HLA.

PIALA Award

This is managed by our partner organization, PIALA. The PIALA annual award provides up to $1,000, for a current Pacific Islands Association of Libraries, Archives, and Museums (PIALA) member to attend the Hawaii Library Association (HLA) Annual Conference. In addition to the award, HLA will pay for airfare and conference registration. PIALA will help cover hotel, per diem, food, and ground transportation.
