Library Employee of the Year
Renamed from Librarian of the Year in 2022
Awarded to a librarian or library employee in the state of Hawaiʻi to recognize exceptional professional achievement and/or service.
Award Criteria
Qualifications
Qualifications may include one or more of the following:
- Outstanding service to a particular library community
- Contributions to the improvement of library service
- Development of innovative library services
- Contributions to the library profession
- Advancement of Hawaiʻi library interests through legislative activities or library promotion activities
- Contributions to intellectual freedom in Hawaiʻi
- Contributions in literacy or information literacy education in Hawaiʻi
Eligibility
Nominees must be residents of the State of Hawaiʻi and must have worked in the library profession in Hawaiʻi for at least three years.
Nominations are solicited via the listserv, so keep an eye out for an email each Fall. Nominators must be members of the Hawaiʻi Library Assocation, although the nominee does not need to be an HLA member.
