Included is the year that each Past President officially began their work with HLA, as Vice-President/President-Elect. For most, their term as President began the following year. As example, Sunyeen Pai was elected as Vice-President/President-Elect in 2022, began that term in 2023, and completed her term as President during the 2024 calendar year. This is the case as far back as 1941-1943, which is when the current multi-term HLA Vice-President > President structure was put into place. The 3-year term with the President also serving an additional year on the Board as Past President was not instituted until the mid-1990s.
